Careers At Sea

Looking to volunteer

Want to inspire a new generation of seafarers and put something back into the shipping industry? If you’re working, or have worked, in the Merchant Navy, then volunteering could be right up your street.

This important role involves visiting schools, youth groups or other local community groups around the UK to deliver inspirational Careers at Sea presentation. This could either be as an individual talk at a special careers event, or in a classroom setting.

Careers at Sea will support you in providing the information and resources you’ll need to deliver a fun and engaging talk. Plus, there’s a raft of helpful extras, such as promotional brochures, pens, giveaways and posters.

Would you rather present at a careers fair or talk as your current shore-based role? Then consider signing up to the Maritime UK Inspiring the Future Programme.

Company Ambassadors

If you have a few people in your company with experience working in the Merchant Navy on board ship and you’re keen to spread the word about those career pathways together, you can sign up as a company.

We’ll provide resources, information and advice so you can volunteer as a company team. You bring the stories and we’ll help you to share them. We’ll help you to reach your local schools, colleges and youth groups, showing more people about the maritime industry and how they can be a part of it.
