What inspired you to pursue a career at sea?

I was inspired by living by the sea, spent a lot of time at the beach growing up. Also inspired by my passion for travel and wanting to build a skillset enabling me to work anywhere in the world.

How have you found the training course?

I have found the training course to be challenging at times but also extremely rewarding. Have built a lot of confidence and skills in the short time I have been in the industry.

What skills or traits do you believe are most important as an officer cadet?

For traits I believe dedication, confidence and resilience are the most important and for skills I believe quick thinking, problem solving and willingness to learn are the best skills.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting a career at sea?

The advice I would give is to surround yourself with the lifestyle and listen and engage with the advice given to you from lectures/senior engineers. And never be afraid to ask questions. Every officer was a cadet once.
