Completed her Small Commercial Vessel Crew Member apprenticeship at Harwich Haven Authority.
What inspired you to pursue a career at sea?
From a young age I have always been drawn to the sea and fascinated about the maritime world. I wanted a role where I could navigate vessels across the world and learn the ropes hands-on. This opportunity offered something different from a traditional career path and give me the sense of adventure that I have pursued my whole life.
How did you find your training course?
The training course was both challenging and rewarding. It gave me a strong foundation of knowledge and showed me different opportunities in the industry. Not only has it provided me with the skills needed to become successful, but I am very fortunate now to continue my dream of becoming a Navigation Officer with a Cadetship.

What skills and traits do you believe are most important as a marine apprentice?
Adaptability, teamwork and having a strong work ethic are essential. Being willing to learn, taking feedback and staying calm under pressure is also important, as is having a positive attitude. As a woman in maritime, I am very proud to be working in this evolving industry, continuing to contribute to it becoming a more inclusive sector. I would encourage other women to also pursue their own career and explore paths in this industry.
